Evil Communication Corrupts

Have you ever seen a good employee go bad? I have and it’s one of those SMH (shaking my head) moments. I hate to see people make the mistake of becoming corrupted. They see everyone else getting away with “work place murder” (using cell phones, taking extended breaks, stealing, etc.) and look at it as an opportunity to do the same. They allow, as the Bible would put it, evil communication to corrupt good manner.

I have seen one employee single handedly corrupt multiple employees. They see this person getting away with all sorts of policy and operating guideline violation and decide to follow her lead. I am beginning to believe that people can’t stand for one person to have a monopoly on wrong doing.

The way I see it everyone is going to do something wrong at some point when they feel that it is necessary. However, people in the workplace are doing wrong just because they see someone else getting away with it.

What has me shaking my head is the fact that people are leaving an opportunity on the table. People are taking the opportunity to get away with “work place murder” as opposed to the opportunity to stand out and apart. The bosses know something is going on and have various indicators that act as alerts. While people are thinking they are getting away with something it is actually just a matter of time before they have to pay up.

The biggest mistake people are making on the job is taking the wrong opportunity. They don’t take the opportunity to stand out by doing everything they are supposed to. They allow evil communication to corrupt their good manner. They start off strong but end up looking just like everyone else on the job.

If you work a nine to five and see people slacking off, stealing, taking excessive breaks, not reaching their required goals look at it as an opportunity for you to stand out not join in. You can walk in hit their numbers, not slack off,  and do what you were hired to do and put yourself in a position to get raises, promotions and other consideration.

Don’t allow the actions of others to determine what you are going to do on the job or in life.
