A Blog For Mama

By Tre Tucker

Not a day goes by that I don’t think about the sacrifices my mother made for me and my siblings. Growing up was rough at times, but my mother made sure that all 5 of her children never went without. We may not have had everything that we wanted, but we always had the essentials.

As a child I did not always understand my mother’s reasoning for certain things. Now, with me being an adult, and having those same responsibilities, I totally understand.

My mother is my everything, I know a lot of you guys feel me. I knew who my father was but we had a hit and miss relationship. My mother never talked down on him nor allowed me to blame my father’s absence on bad choices that I may have made in my life. Now don’t get me wrong, I do feel like every child needs a positive male presence in their life, especially when you grow up in the hood. I had to realize that the path I made was mine and mine alone. No one to blame but myself. I see how hard it is to just take care of myself. So all the single parents out there I commend you.

My mother was hard on me at times, but  now I see it was all out of love. She felt like she had to prepare me for adult hood and everything that comes along with it. That’s why I wrote this blog for you. Cherish your mother, and her opinion and everything that comes along with her. People used to always tell me you only get one mother; show her that she is loved and appreciated, just like my mother did for me, and your mother did for you. She never guided me down the wrong path and she always kept us safe. For that Mama I love you. There’s no way I can pay you back, but the plan is to show you that I understand. You know I appreciate it.
